Join Our Team!

We believe that the best results come from a collaborative, energetic, and supportive team. We are a close-knit firm that celebrates our successes together and prioritizes a respectful environment. You will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and trust, working directly with partners who are invested in your development. If you're looking for a workplace where you can do sophisticated legal work while being part of a team that genuinely enjoys working together, you've found it.

We are looking for qualified candidates for the following positions:

  • Who We Are Looking For:

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing firm on the ground floor and build a significant career with long-term potential. We are seeking an entrepreneurial and driven associate who will not just handle cases, but will become an integral part of our firm's growth and success.

You will immediately take on significant responsibility, managing commercial litigation matters from inception through trial. This includes drafting critical pleadings and motions, managing all phases of discovery, and having direct contact with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.

Furthermore, you will play a key role in expanding our construction practice by drafting and negotiating contracts for new development projects, giving you a unique blend of transactional and litigation experience. This role is ideal for a self-starting attorney who thrives with a high degree of autonomy and is ready to take ownership of their work and career trajectory.

    Qualifications:

    • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar.

    • Admission to the New Jersey Bar and/or federal court admissions (Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York) are strongly preferred.

    • A minimum of 3 years of litigation experience focused on commercial and/or construction disputes.

    • Exceptional Legal Writing: A proven ability to draft clear, persuasive, and precise litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery motions, and dispositive motions.

    • Discovery Management: Sophisticated experience managing discovery, including overseeing document review and production, drafting strategic requests and responses, and identifying key evidence.

    • Case Management: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to independently manage multiple active cases and prioritize effectively.

    • Deposition Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in all phases of deposition practice, including preparation, examination, and defense.

    • Communication & Negotiation: Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact professionally with clients, negotiate with opposing counsel, and represent the firm in court.

    • Tech Proficiency: Experience with modern legal tech, including eDiscovery platforms (e.g., Everlaw, Relativity) and case management software (e.g., Clio). Familiarity with AI-powered legal tools is preferred.

    Why Join Lee & Lum?

    • Direct Impact: Your work and strategic insights will directly influence case outcomes and the direction of the firm. You won't be just another cog in the wheel.

    • Substantive Experience: Gain hands-on experience and direct client contact far earlier than you would at a larger firm.

    • Court Appearances: Expect to argue motions in court, not just draft them. Opportunity for second-chair (and eventually first-chair) trial experience.

    • Appellate Practice: Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in submitting appeals and making oral arguments before the Appellate Division.

    • Mentorship & Growth: We are committed to your professional development and provide opportunities to hone both your litigation and transactional skills in a supportive environment.

    How to Apply:

Please submit your resume and a relevant writing sample (e.g., a motion or brief you have drafted) combined into a single PDF document. Applications can be sent directly to Robert Lum, Hiring Partner, at rlum@leelumlaw.com. A cover letter is welcomed but not required.

Lee & Lum, LLP is an equal opportunity employer and will consider all applications without regard to race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, or any characteristic protected by law.

  • The Opportunity: We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Litigation Paralegal to become an integral part of our growing team. This is a hands-on role where you will work directly with partners on all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial. In our boutique setting, your work will have a direct and meaningful impact on our cases and client success.

    What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):

    • Manage all aspects of case files, including calendaring deadlines, organizing documents, and maintaining case databases.

    • Handle electronic filing of legal documents in New York State (NYSCEF) and Federal (ECF/Pacer) courts.

    • Assist in drafting, proofreading, and cite-checking legal documents, including pleadings, discovery demands, motions, and subpoenas.

    • Organize and manage discovery, including document collection, review, and production.

    • Prepare for depositions, hearings, and trials by organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, and coordinating with witnesses and vendors.

    • Conduct legal and factual research using online tools like Westlaw/LexisNexis.

    • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.

    Who You Are (Qualifications):

    • 3+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm setting.

    • Deep experience with e-filing in NYSCEF and ECF/Pacer.

    • Experience in commercial litigation or construction law is strongly preferred.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management software (e.g., Clio).

    • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

    • A self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

    • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is a plus.
